What Does an EICR Inspection Cover?

Preparing for Your EICR Inspection
Access to your electrical installation
Make sure the electrician can reach the consumer unit and any electrical points in lofts, garages or outbuildings. If a tenant or other occupant needs to grant access, tell us and we will coordinate directly with them.
Power interruptions and appointment duration
Testing the installation means turning the power off at points during the visit, so expect short interruptions rather than uninterrupted power throughout. Most inspections take 1 to 2 hours; larger properties, or ones with more circuits, can take longer.

Further Investigation and Remedial Work
An FI code means the electrician needs to look at something more closely before it can be classified, and they will tell you what that involves. Once any remedial work from a C1 or C2 finding is complete, the affected circuits are retested and the certificate is updated in writing to reflect it; a full new inspection is not usually needed for straightforward remedial items, only where the installation has changed significantly or enough time has passed that the original report has expired.
